Stared listening to The Civil Wars yesterday and now I can't stop!
Ever tried to write a song? I did. Yesterday. It's tough. Eventually we just turned to opera and I gave myself a crippling case of the hiccups from laughing so hard. But these guys make it look easy... and beautiful, very beautiful.
I don't think I'm blunt enough for song writing. I like subtext, lots and lots of subtext. I could never just say, "I love you." There would have to be some kind of back story, conflict, setting, scene, and all this other stuff that you can't fit into a few verses. I wish I could, but I don't think songwriting is my calling.
Sad. I know, but enjoy!
